The Season To Be....

Gift- giving, Christmas tree, Christmas lights, Christmas carols, nativity scenes, garlands, mistletoe and Santa Claus are the stuffs common to see at Christmas. Christmas music fill the air, Christmas lights illuminate the night and Santa Claus makes children on cloud nine. With all this customs of celebratory, what is the essence of Christmas?

There are two for me. One sharing that comes from our heart, volunteer and with no doubt. This act is righteous and can bring joy to the world. Sharing gifts, love and a part of our life are enough to fill the day of Christmas. It should be like this. It’s not about the item it’s about the content, essence, spirit and meaning of the item.

The second is forgiving. We must let go our anger towards other. Forgive them because this is the season when all of us are friends.

But how the Christmas should be is depend on us. We have our own ways to celebrate it. Different ways but its intention is good. And the important in Christmas is that our family is whole and remembering and celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Change

I know a bit about climate change. Climate change is a significant and lasting change in the distribution of weather patterns over periods ranging from decades to millions of years.

Most people understand climate change as the same as global warming. But it is not, global warming refers to the increasing surface temperature of the Earth while climate change includes global warming and everything else that greenhouse gas levels will affect.

We must face the truth that nothing on this world is permanent. There will always a climate change. We cannot stop it but we can prepare for it. For me having this change is a good sign that our Earth is still alive and evolving.

In the end, our decisions affect our destiny. Just be a good citizen of the Earth to live it to the fullest and worthy and always care our Earth.

Equality and Diversity

We must face the truth that we live in a world where rivalry is all over the place. Everyone wants superior power over the other even they are sacrificing equality. Self- indulgence, self-centeredness, greediness and craving for power causes inequality.  It is sad that without equality many people are discriminating, hearts are broken, opportunities are wasted and lives are ruin.

Equality is a necessity for our lives so we can fulfill our goals and to live life to the fullest. Achieving this we can bring goodness to the whole world. There will be no discrimination, no life will be destroyed and no one will be the victims of inequality.

God created all men equally. We are not equal in terms of physical aspect but we are equal in the eyes of the God and have equal rights. With equal rights comes with equal opportunities. Everyone will have their chance to write their own story and choose their path.

With equal rights in our grasp we can have equal opportunities. Imagine what we can do if equality dominates. With this equality we will be able to do the impossible, righteousness will be everywhere, goodness will dominate the world and humanity will go farther.

We Go Around The World

Every time we go from place to place we need to communicate to the citizens but a place have its own language that keeping us apart. Communicating globally is a lot work to do before we can do this. "Going Global Through English Language" a theme of this English month's celebration. English? Globally it is the most use language in the whole world and almost all countries had already learned to use this.

Learning and using English language to communicate globally is the best way to understand others and making us closer to the world. By doing this, we can do a lot of things. We can bring good to this world, peace, or achieving our goals.

Even though we can understand and know a person through his culture, behaviour and anything else but this is not enough. It is better to know a person if we learn their language.

Second Grading Period...... Is just the same with the previous grading in terms of routine. Go to school, listen to the teacher, participate, and make an assignment, projects and so on.

But I observed myself that I improve a bit with my performance, increase in determination and have higher self-esteem.

Every grading is important. On this grading is just a start for me, I think.. I fall once but I will get up, stand strong and firm, and have more focus, commit lesser mistakes and more responsible.

But the happy thing about this grading, I have always my classmates at my back and they have mine too. Together we journey this incredible life.

Tree Hugger

Today we are facing problems that threat our world's natural beauty and life. These problems are caused by us clearing forest for communities, contamination of drinking water, soil contamination, and wildlife destruction and so on.

If these continue life on Earth will be miserable. They will no comfortable place to live in. Living will be difficult. Every day we find ways to survive. These complications would lead us to worst scenario that will make us suffer badly

We caused these problems so we are responsible for solving it and restore what is destroyed. One man cannot handle such an enormity of the problems so we must unite to lessen the burden of the problems. Nothing is impossible if we keep our goal in our minds and hearts to restore the freshness of life we can achieve it.

As a student and a science clubber I can do things that have a good impact to our environment. Even they are small things but have big effect on our environment. I planted a tree in our yard and it is a sign that I have started. So what will you do? And when you start?

Hero: Teacher

Soldiers, fire-fighters, and police-officers they are some we consider heroes because they put themselves to danger to protect and save life. But they did not exist without teachers.

I consider a teacher a hero......

Teachers are there when we first step at school. They teach me what I need to learn for my independency and readiness for my future. They guide me to walk in the right path, helping me to stand when I fall, advising me for betterment, and accompanying me in times of suffering. But the most I like about teacher is how they give an impact to me. Every teacher I encounter, even I like or dislike them, and they leave an impact to me so remarkable that I learned a lesson from them. They did not just teach numbers and letters they also affect me, emotionally and mentally. They made me a good man maybe better.

That’s why I consider them as a hero.

MY HERO!

"Hero". Many of us think Iron Man, Batman or Superman. They are super beings granted with super powers ,fighting villains, putting themselves often to danger, protecting the innocent, saving lives and wearing fancy costumes. And they are also cool and awesome.

But for me, my hero has no super powers and no fancy costumes. Just an ordinary citizens living in a happy and challenging place called LIFE. Hero with super powers?Naaahh...They are no match to my hero. My hero has power that makes everybody special called LOVE.

They are my parents and I proudly to say that they are my hero. Without them I did not exist. They give me life and everyday they share their love with me. They teach me how to be down to earth and close to God. They teach me how to be independent, a good man, and a good son.

In times of downfall my parents are there especially my mother. Once I got miserable, confused, and low self-esteem. My mother helps me to stand up and give me advice. In the next day, I am back to myself ready to face the challenging life.

There are many heroes and heroines out there. That sacrifices for betterment for other people. And we have own hero. For me my true and forever heroes are my beloved parents.

"Wika"

That's Life

We gain lessons as time passed, or when we make mistakes or someone's mistakes, or when observe and analyze what are the results of our act or someone's act, or from the advice of other, or from our experiences.

Commonly these lessons are come from our problems or challenges that we encounter. Even if it is serious or not, impossible to solve or not, it will provide lessons to us. Problems that makes our life miserable, hopeless and sometimes we give up because we cannot handle anymore the situation. But life is not complete and we can't live to the fullest without problems. These problems are given to us to measure how strong and independent we are. So everyone is tested to determine we can live independently by the eyes of Lord.

I have this problem that makes my life miserable and it last for how many weeks. At first, I felt lonely, hopeless and sometimes angry. But as life goes on I tried to lessen my pain and regain my hope. Sometimes I look back at the past and my pain returns. Then there is a time that I reflect on what the results if I continue like this. I asked myself "What can I do to change what was happened?". Then I realize I can't do anymore on what was happened and don't look back.

I learned that we must accept our failure if it’s not, it will lead to another more serious problem. And ask for the guidance of the Lord.

Let's Go To The "Tuwid Na Daan"

President Benigno C. Aquino III, I would like to congratulate you for your successful SONA.

In your SONA you said that our objective is to expand the reach of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) in which the families with children up to 18 years old will be included in this program so that their children will be able to finish high school to have 40 percent more income. First of all, I am agreeing with this program because it aims to eliminate extreme poverty by providing cash assistance. And I am confidence because the beneficiaries are selected thoroughly and they deserve to be benefitted. A while ago you said that you expand the reach of the program, I am agreeing with this too. Maximizing the benefit will ensure the progress of the financial status of the beneficiary.
4P's logo

But I am concern for some consequences of this program. There is a tendency that the beneficiary will use this program for pointless things. Or the parent of the family will no longer to work for themselves because they only rely in this program. I hope you make an action with regards to this problem.

Overall, this program can provide a hope for those who are hoping to stand again and those who do not have a place to start with.

It’s All About Health

"Gutom at malnutrisyon sama- sama nating wakasan." is now the theme of this year 2013 Nutrition Month. This theme means we must put to end together the biggest health problems in our society.

Malnutrition is the results from eating a diet in which certain nutrition in our body are lacking or in excess. In the theme "gutom" or starvation is like or the most extreme form of malnutrition. Many people died from starvation, if we don’t make our move, what will happen to us?

“Sama- sama nating wakasan” in English, end this together. We must make a move starting from now so the earlier the more life we can save. Starvation and malnutrition can be treating and prevent in many ways. If we don’t have budget we don't need to buy expensive nutritious food to be healthy, look around, the food (vegetables or fruits) we see in our backyard or abundant in our place will give us enough nutrients to be healthy. Just know things that is edible, delicious or not, and full of nutrients you will know how to keep your body healthy. The most common and best way to prevent malnutrition is eating vegetables, fruits, and little meat but all this must in proper proportion to have balance nutrients in our body.

Dear President Benigno C. Aquino III,

We know that you are busy for the progress of our country and doing everything at our best for the sake of your citizens. But some Filipinos did not see that instead they protest against you because they only see your mistakes and not appreciate your good deeds.

For me, I understand your situation. Being a President of the Philippines is a busy work. Every day and every minute you have schedule to meet and places to go. And I understand that you cannot solve every problem in our country because the problem that the Philippines faces are the problems that all Filipinos must be solve together.

I admit that in this administration the economy is rising. But honestly Sir the progress in our country does not really have an impact on individuals. I hope you keep on improving our economy and our country.

I wrote this letter not to judge you but to thank and appreciate all the effort you have done to our country.

Sincerely yours,
Jerome Cardenas
